Andrew Sambrook, vice president of the Framingham, MA-based company, is being promoted to general manager.

Goldstein was with IDG for 21 years, and became president in 1991. She got her start at Morgan-Grampian Publishing Co., where she worked from 1982-1986 as list manager and telemarketing sales manager. As Goldstein tells it, her first role there was reviewing subscriber applications for the company's controlled circulation titles, toiling in a small room “with no air or light.” A manager noticed that she was good at talking on the phone and promoted her into a list sales position.

She was named the 2007 DMer of the Year by the New England Direct Marketing Association and in 2005 received the DMA List Leader of the Year award.

In retirement, Goldstein — who studied jewelry design at SUNY New Paltz and holds a B.A. in English from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst — plans to explore her creative side with writing and art pursuits, as well as keep her hand in direct marketing with a bit of consulting.

Here at Direct, we knew her as a frequent participant in our list industry roundtables and a candid source for news stories. We wish her all the best.
