The Direct Marketing Association has postponed its 2009 B-to-B Lead Generation Conference. The conference had been scheduled to be held April 6 through 8 in New Orleans.

In its place, “DMA will be enhancing our B2B offerings at our tier one events,” said to Sue R.E. Geramian, the DMA’s senior VP of communications and public and media relations.

Geramian said tier one events include its largest conferences, such as DMA Annual, DMDays and the Annual Conference for Catalogers and Multichannel Merchants (ACCM).

The DMA did not comment on whether it would incur any penalties, such as lost deposits, as a result of its decision.

“DMA is focused on providing value to members, especially during this economic climate,” Geramian added. “With travel budgets down and resources stretched across most companies, DMA’s intent is to postpone the B2B Lead Generation Conference until 2010.”

The B-to-B conference was launched 19 years ago.
