Small Biz Sales Down, Government Sales Up For PC Connection
PC Connection, which sells custom-configured computer systems, saw its revenue and sales drop in the third quarter of 2009 from the same time in 2008.
Net sales fell from $441.4 million to $403.1 million, while net income slipped from $3.2 million to $2.9 million. The quarter ended Sept. 30.
Net sales for the small- and medium-sized business (SMB) segment fell by 16% to $182.6 million compared to the third quarter of 2008, reflecting the reduced capital spending of SMB customers.
Net sales for MoreDirect, Inc., the company’s large account segment, dropped by 11.4% to $103.9 million compared to the third quarter of 2008. Large account customers, according to a company statement, continue to be cautious in their IT spending.
Net sales to government and education customers, PC Connection’s public sector segment. increased by 9.3% to $116.6 million compared to the third quarter of 2008. Increased federal contract sales and strong K-12 education sales contributed to the year-over-year increase.
