Transcontinental Direct Cuts 50 Jobs: Report

Direct marketing services provider Transcontinental Direct USA is cutting 50 positions from its Orwigsburg, Hamburg and Reading PA locations, according to The Republican and Herald newspaper. When the company’s Frackville location is included, current employee counts within these four sites are more than 1,000 workers, The Republican and Herald added.

The reductions range across a wide variety of functions, including material handlers, clerical and management positions, according to The Republican and Herald. Employees were informed of the reductions on Monday.

A company executive attributed the need for reduction in part to reduced direct mail volume from financial marketers. Plans call for “direct support structure groups” to be consolidated in the Hamburg plant, according to The Republican and Herald.
