List veteran Ken Altman, former vice president of list management at MKTG Services, has started his own management and brokerage company: Altman Data Marketing LLC.

He is managing 20 lists that were formerly handled by MKTG Services.

These include subscription files for several motorcycle magazines published by Paisano Publications. The firm is also managing a group of Professional Data Services compiled lists.

The Manalapan, NJ-based start-up will also provide brokerage services for Diabetic Cooking, Precision Marketing and Paisano Publications.

Altman said his near-term growth plans include offering database development, list enhancement and direct marketing consulting services. He is about to launch a Web site.

Altman began his career in direct marketing in 1963. He held positions with such firms as Kleid Co., SDI List Management, Woodruff-Stevens & Associates and Stevens-Knox, which became MKTG. He also founded and operated Omni List Marketing, until its sale to Uni-Mail Inc. Over the years he has worked with agencies, publishing companies and club membership clients.
