Direct Marketing Fundraisers Association
MEMBERSHIP
About 300 nonprofits and vendors in New York, Boston and Washington. Board members include executives from Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, U.S. Fund for Unicef, Lighthouse International, the New York Public Library, ASPCA, WNYC public radio, Community Servings, AMREF USA, The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research, and March of Dimes.
WHY YOU SHOULD JOIN
“Our membership is a good mix of nonprofits and suppliers, says Joan H. Smyth Dengler, vice president, direct response for Covenant House and DMFA treasurer. “We also offer many education opportunities and are a bit more affordable for smaller nonprofits to join than the Direct Marketing Association.”
EVENTS
Monthly luncheons are held at the Yale Club in New York. Upcoming topics include e-philanthropy (Feb. 27); a March 26 luncheon with theme to be determined; and planned giving and direct mail (April 23). Additional events are slated for Boston and Washington. There also are quarterly workshops on subjects such as “Direct Mail 101.” On June 12, the Package of the Year awards will be presented. Dengler says about 50 entries typically are received, equally split between acquisition and retention campaigns.
