Direct Response Adds DM Insurer

Direct Response Corp., a White Plains, NY-based holding firm for several DR auto insurance companies, will acquire Connecticut Life & Casualty Insurance Co., a direct automobile and homeowner policy writer based in Meriden, CT. Direct Response plans to expand Connecticut Life's offerings into states currently served by its Response Insurance holding, including New York, California, Florida, Illinois, Maryland and Georgia. Connecticut Life will continue to operate under its own brand name and management. Chief executive Robert S. Weiss will stay with the company.
