Ready to Rock and Broker, Too

Ladies and gentlemen, the Nixie Chicks. Nope, that's not a typo. The three-piece band, led by American List Counsel senior account manager Tom McCulloh, may soon be performing at an industry event near you. As you might guess from the name (“100% undeliverable music,” jokes McCulloh), the band's material pokes fun at the list business. A few selections include the original love song “I Need a Better Net Name From You,” “NCOA” (to the tune of “YMCA”) and “Take a Walk on the Compiled Side.” (We're waiting for “I Wanna Be Segmented.”) The band — which also features ALC vice president Bruce Hammer on drums — debuted at the ALC broker luncheon. A CD and Web site are in the works, and the all-male Chicks are confirmed to perform at Hudson Valley Direct Marketing Association cocktail party later this month. Something may also be planned for the DMA's Annual Conference in Atlanta in October. Outside of the Chicks, McCulloh — who played guitar in the late '70s-early '80s punk band Tuff Darts — still keeps active in the music business. Earlier this year he played gigs with Ian Hunter and Blue Oyster Cult, and is set to perform with Berlin this month. But don't think he's set to leave the world of data cards. “I've never been happier than at ALC,” he says. |
