EmailAppenders Disappears Again
Less than a month after reappearing as eAppendersWeb.com, EmailAppenders—the firm that multiple marketers have accused of ripping them off in bad e-mail deals—has seemingly disappeared again.
As of this week, eAppendersWeb.com no longer loads.
EmailAppenders reemerged on April 28 using the URL eAppendersWeb.com after apparently abandoning its URL at EmailAppendersWeb.com earlier this year.
However, eAppenderWeb.com used EmailAppenders’ old Web pages.
As a result, even though the site was eAppendersWeb.com, its page headers and body copy referred to the firm as EmailAppenders.
Within a week, however, eAppendersWeb.com was scrubbed of all references to EmailAppenders—but not before this newsletter was able to publish screen shots of the site before it was altered.
EmailAppenders has been accused by several marketers of selling them bad data and failing to provide refunds.
Also, trade publisher Internet Retailer sued EmailAppenders in December alleging EmailAppenders was hawking a bogus list of Internet Retailer’s annual conference attendees.
Internet Retailer won a summary judgment in April when EmailAppenders failed to appear in court to defend itself.
There is evidence that EmailAppenders has no physical presence in the U.S. and that it is based in India.
According to anti-spam outfit Spamhaus’s ROKSO list, or Register of Known Spam Operations, an India-based company called “Data Champions/Sloan Marketing” has operated EmailAppenders.com and EmailAppenders.net. They are among at least 51 domains it operates, or has operated, according to Spamhaus.
Message to readers: If anyone receives e-mail from a seemingly questionable firm selling e-mail lists, please forward it to me at Ken.Magill at Penton.com. You don’t have to go on the record. Thanks.
