Previously, Everett-Church was director of e-mail policy for Habeas, the e-mail reputation management-and-deliverability firm that was bought by Return Path, as reported here last week. Everett-Church had been at Habeas for about a year.

He said the timing of his job switch was purely coincidental.

“It wasn’t by any stretch a case of me bolting for the door [before Habeas was sold],” he said.

In his new role, Everett-Church will work out of Responsys’s headquarters in San Bruno, CA. He will help represent the company at industry conferences such as the Messaging Anti-Abuse Working Group, or MAAWG, and at trade associations, such as the E-mail Sender and Provider Coalition, or ESPC.

He will also help Responsys and its customers navigate Internet security and privacy issues.

He added that continuing developments surrounding Internet security and online consumer trust are “placing more burdens on marketers to understand and adapt. There’s a lot going on and we want to be ahead of that curve.”

Everett-Church is well known in e-mail marketing and anti-spam circles. He is the author of Internet Privacy for Dummies and Fighting Spam for Dummies.

He is a long-time privacy consultant. He also created the industry’s first chief privacy officer position at online advertising company AllAdvantage.
