New EmailAppenders-Related Firm Surfaces
Yet another e-mail list-sales firm has surfaced that appears to be related to EmailAppenders, an India-based company that evidence suggests has no physical presence in the U.S. and has been accused by multiple marketers of ripping them off.
A marketer who wishes to remain anonymous recently received an e-mail from someone calling herself Stacey Conner offering business-to-business e-mail lists for sale. The message gave no indication of Conner’s employer’s name.
“We have complete contact details lists of Supply Chain Managers and Decision Makers in Supply Chain activities of companies involved in Manufacturing, High-Tech, Government, Retail, Aerospace, Telecom and many more,” said Conner’s message.
When the recipient of Conner’s message responded indicating her firm was interested in buying b-to-b e-mail lists, someone calling himself Jason Mathews took over the communication. The footer of Mathews’ message said he was a business development consultant from Web Data Champions.
According to anti-spam outfit Spamhaus’ ROKSO list, or Register of Known Spam Operations, an India-based firm called Sloan Marketing/Data Champions operates or has operated EmailAppenders.com and EmailAppenders.net.
Attached to Mathews’ e-mail was a corporate brochure for a company calling itself “Webmailing Lists, a division of Sales Online Ltd.”
However, Sales Online Ltd. doesn’t appear to have Web site and there is seemingly only one reference to it on the Internet.
A Google search for “Sales Online Ltd.” returns no such company. A search on Bing.com returns a member listing on the Mobile Marketing Association’s Web site but nothing more.
Meawhile, the address Webmailing Lists’ corporate brochure claims as its U.S. headquarters is 14781 Memorial Drive, Suite 1155 in Houston.
The address is that of the Memorial Postal Center in Houston and the “suite” is a post office box.
As has been reported here, at least four other firms related to EmailAppenders have claimed that address: SixChannels.com, ListOrbitMail.com, NetSalesLists.com and SalesBrowser.com.
According to anti-spam outfit Spamhaus’ ROKSO list, Sloan Marketing/Data Champions also operates or has operated ListOrbitOnline.com, SalesBrowser.com, SalesBrowser.net and SixChannelsMail.com.
Two calls to the phone number listed on Webmailing Lists’ brochure reached anti-wrinkle cream direct marketer Youthology. Representatives said they’d never heard of Webmailing Lists.
Also troubling, many of the Webmailing Lists’ brochure’s executive profiles offer one name in the introduction and another name or wrong gender in the body copy supposedly describing that executive.
For example, the brochure claims: “Elizabeth Higgins, CEO & Founder, has championed expansion initiatives across continents aimed at leveraging our vast research and e-mail data resources along with extensive customer base and global marketing presence. His [emphasis mine] many contributions include the globalization of sales, marketing and e-mail support organizations to expand the company’s presence across continents. Focusing on the customer he has transformed the company to a new age e-mail-centric organization through customer success participation programs.”
In another executive profile, the brochure claims: “Gary Meyers, VP – Business Development, handles business development initiatives across the US East coast and Europe. Companies across the globe use our advanced email appending services and technology that Ian has been instrumental in designing. Ian had been with our email append division since its inception in 2001.”
And in another, the brochure says: “Jack Williams, Director - Business Development, is responsible for Sales initiatives across the US and servicing Fortune 500 and Publications industry. Sean has been responsible for the organizations focus on servicing various complex append and data project initiatives across the USA.
And in still another, the brochure says: “James Anderson, Data and Sales Director – Europe, is responsible for Sales initiatives across the Europe and data base management. Jeff takes care of the entire European sales and networking.
EmailAppenders has been accused by several marketers of selling them bad data and failing to provide refunds.
Also, trade publisher Internet Retailer sued EmailAppenders last year alleging EmailAppenders was hawking a bogus list of Internet Retailer’s annual conference attendees.
Internet Retailer won a summary judgment in April when EmailAppenders failed to appear in court to defend itself.
EmailAppenders disappeared in May after briefly reappearing as eAppendersWeb.com.
