E-mail marketing software-on-demand provider ExactTarget today announced it has developed a tool that allows its clients to integrate their e-mail marketing content with Twitter.

The integration enables marketers to select content in an e-mail and trigger a Tweet—a message limited to 140 characters sent to the Twitter account holder’s followers—when the e-mail is sent, according to ExactTarget.

“The Twitter integration allows marketers to leverage the power of social media to boost the interactivity of an e-mail marketing campaign by creating a dialogue with customers,” said Scott Dorsey, chief executive officer and co-founder of ExactTarget, in a statement.

According to ExactTarget, its Twitter integration allows marketers to select e-mail content to Tweet from ExactTarget’s user interface.

The content is automatically transferred to Twitter when the e-mail is sent, creating a Tweet from the marketer’s Twitter account. Marketers can also opt to automatically direct message followers with the update from ExactTarget’s user interface.

Accordong to ExactTarget, its Twitter integration will be available to clients Nov. 6.
