Teenage apparel and sports equipment marketer, Delia's Inc. reported increased sales and a higher profit margin for its direct marketing division for the first quarter that ended April 29.

Net direct marketing sales increased 19.1% to $37.1 million, compared to $31.2 million in the first quarter one year ago. These higher sales were driven by a 14.6% increase in catalog circulation.

The company reported $1.7 million in gross profits for direct marketing sales in the first quarter, compared to $500,000 net loss in the first quarter last year.
