Equifax Acquires Data Services Firm Austin-Tetra

Equifax Inc. has acquired Austin-Tetra, a business-to-business data management services firm. Terms for this all cash transaction were not disclosed.

Austin-Tetra's assets include a database of more than 30 million businesses worldwide with data aggregated from more than 300 sources. It has a unique nine-digit identifier for individual business entities, such a parent companies, subsidiaries, headquarters and branches, which is used for data matching verification.

Austin-Tetra is expected to maintain a presence in Irving, TX. Its founder and CEO Phil Berkebile Jr. will become a consultant for Equifax during a transition period. The rest of the Austin-Tetra staff is slated to join Equifax.

The acquisition is expected to lead to Equifax to expand its product offerings.
