BellSouth to Offer Internet Cell Phone Service in Argentina
Movicom, the cellular telephone unit of telecommunications firm 65% owned by BellSouth Corp., began offering Latin America's first cellular phone Internet service to users in Argentina, according to wire service reports.
The company will initially offer subsidies to partially defray the $200 purchase price for the phone. The company expects at least a quarter of its 1.4 million cell phone users to buy the service by year end.
