Scotts Valley, CA-based e-mail filtering firm SurfControl has named John Murphy vice president of marketing. He most recently served as vice president of business development at BroadWare. Prior to that, Murphy was senior vice president and general manager at Internet Pictures Corporation.

The next International Direct Marketing Fair will held May 9-11, 2006 at Earls Court 2 in London. The winner of the DM Business New Product Award sponsored by Acxiom at this year's fair last month was IPT Ltd for EmailTracker, an online library resource enabling clients to track their competitors' e-mail broadcasts.
