Carolyn L. Gallagher and Louis J. Giuliano were nominated to be governors of the United States Postal Service for the remainder of the term expiring December 8, 2005.

President Bush is expected to make recess appointments when Congress is not in session, allowing Gallagher and Giuliano to immediately begin serving on the board.

In addition to several industry positions, Gallagher was a member of the President’s Commission on the US Postal Service. She has 20 years of experience in acquiring and growing companies. Professionally she was most recently president and CEO of Texwood Furniture, Inc., a U.S. manufacturer of educational furniture located in Taylor, Texas.

Giuliano has served as chairman, president and CEO of ITT Industries, Inc. since March 2001. Giuliano joined ITT in July 1988 as vice president of ITT Corporation and vice president of defense operations at ITT Defense after a 19-year career at Allied-Signal.
