Jeff Weiner Promoted to CEO at LinkedIn

Jeff Weiner has been named CEO of professional network firm LinkedIn. Weiner had served as interim president since January. Weiner will also join the company’s board of directors.

Weiner takes the CEO role from founder Reid Hoffman. Hoffman will continue in his role as founder and executive chairman.

Since joining LinkedIn, Weiner has overseen the network’s operation. Before he joined the company, he was executive in residence at Accela Partners and Graylock Partners.

He had also held several management positions at Yahoo, including executive VP of Yahoo’s Network Division, where he was responsible for the company’s consumer Web product portfolio, including the company’s Front Page, Mail, Search and Media products.
