Letters to the Editor
[Re: Loose Cannon: A Latte Good It'll Do, Direct Newsline, Monday, June 25, 2007]:
As usual, a brilliant piece, strewn with bon mots that the casual
reader may miss, the same casual reader who probably receives as many
as a dozen financial offers a week, and who might not shred them before
putting them in the garbage. Always a good move. This does not assuage
the issue of a miscreant purloining said offers prior to actual
delivery.
One wonders, would the likelihood of incidents such as this become
fewer if companies like the airlines did not mail me offers me 3-4 per
week, often 2 on the same day, albeit in different size flats?
As to the matter of the victim not taking a poke at the miscreant:
That, my friend, is what baseball bats are for, especially when the
courts see fit to let loose said miscreant with no further jail time.
One hopes the miscreant finds the judge's mailbox next.
Not that I have an opinion.

In your column today, you told an interesting -- and actually quite amazing -- story. Thank you for sharing it!

This Chronicle story is almost the basic fairy godmother tale where
the wicked witch can't get away because she can't find her broomstick.
My problem is I can't tell a Prada coat from a Levi's jean jacket.
Thanks for an amusing story to start the week.
