BabyUniverse to Open Fulfillment Center in Las Vegas

BabyUniverse Inc. plans to open a new 24,000-square-foot fulfillment center in Las Vegas in February to support sales generated from its Web sites BabyUniverse.com and DreamtimeBaby.com.

The new facility is intended reduce the number of long distance shipments to western states that have been handled by fulfillment center located in Florida. It will replace 5,000 square foot of leased office and warehouse space in California.

BabyUniverse said this move make it more competitive in California, because it will no longer require Golden State customers to pay sales taxes for online generated orders shipped from Nevada. About 15% of the firm's orders come from California.
